“The Territory’s longest running iconic event!"

Join in, have fun, or just enjoy the hilarity from under the shade of gum trees on the edge of the dry Todd River bed, and help raise funds for charity.

Everyone is invited to attend and enter events! You could make your own boat and even join in the Grand Parade!

Entry Costs for the Henley-On-Todd Regatta

$15 Adult, $5 children (4-14 years) and $30 Family (2 adults and 2 children).


Registrations to enter any of the events can be taken on the day at no extra cost.


When is the next Henley-On-Todd Regatta to be held?
Saturday 16th August 2014

Where is the Henley-On-Todd Regatta held?
In Alice Springs, in the Todd River, just to the North of Todd Mall.

I want to compete. On the day of the Henley-on-Todd, where do I register or report to as a competitor, or an entrant in the Bring-your-own-Boat event?
All entrants or competitors must register, pay their entrance fee and fill out our Indemnity Form at the marshalling point on the day. We marshal in the old Memo Club car park on the corner of Gap Road and Stuart Terrace. Registration commences at 9:30am and you are advised to get there early. The Parade commences from this marshalling car park.

What time does the parade start?
At 10:30am the full Parade of entrants and Competitors leaves on foot in single file and travels north along Gap Road, into Todd Street and along Todd Mall to the Henley On Todd riverside site.

What time do the races start?

How can I get involved in the boat races?
There are many ways to get involved in the event. You can bring your own boat and participate in the :”BYO” boat races.
You can register at the event on the day. Just have a look at the wide variety of events available and then sign up at the entry tent on event day. You can also register ONLINE before the big day.

How long has the Henley-On-Todd Regatta been going?
2014 sees the running of the 53rd Henley-On-Todd. The event is the single longest running event in the Northern Territory and has been labelled an Iconic Event for the Territory.

Do we have to supply our own boats to enter a race?
No all vessels and equipment is supplied for competitors.
Unless you wish to take part in the “BYO Boat” races – you then need to design and supply your own boat.

What is a BYO boat?
A Bring You Own boat must fully enclose the 4 member crew and must resemble a boat. Construction, size and shape are all open to your imagination. Most BYO boats are constructed using electrical conduit or plumping pipe as the frame. The boat should be as light as practical and must have no sharp edges in case the crew falls.

Has the Henley-On-Todd Regatta ever been cancelled?
Yes! In 1993 there was too much water in the Todd River and the event had to be cancelled due to Flooding!

Can I get something to eat and drink at the event?
Yes there will be a variety of food and drink stalls available on the day.

Can my company sponsor any of the events?

How can I get my school involved?
There are races specifically designed for school groups. Why not enter your school in the Head of the river races! Simply turn up on the day and enter your team at the entries tent located on the bank of the River.

Is there plenty of shade to sit under at the event?
Yes but be sure to slip, slop, slap.

Can I join in the parade down Todd Mall?
Those who have their own boat for the Bring your own boat races are very welcome to join in the parade down Todd Mall. Simply drop us an email and we will be sure to include you and your boat in the Parade.
